Prisoners Terrorized: Coldwater Cooler is Said to Be Haunted by Ghosts

Coldwater, Mich., November 17.--The Branch county jail is haunted. Unearthly sounds at midnight frighten the prisoners almost to death. Frequently the inmates sit up all night watching in alarm. The officers are glad that it is so.

"I hope the ghosts will continue to haunt the cooler," says Prosecuting Attorney Cowell. "I will take no steps to investigate the strange phenomenon. If the place is haunted, as reports say, the county will not be burdened with the expense of caring for hoboes this winter."
